Stem cell therapy is often referred to as regenerative medicine, a technique that enables the body to repair and regenerate damaged tissues.
Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cells are the powerhouse cells of the body. They are the master cells.
They are influenced by their location and will mature into more specialized cells…like a kidney cell, or tendon or ligament cell. Stem cells, regardless of their source, have the potential to divide and replicate themselves to ensure a necessary and healthy population.
When the stem cell arrives at a location, it can then differentiate into its more functional cell type to perform its important job as a cartilage cell or heart cell. This can have strong healing and anti-inflammatory results that can benefit your pet greatly.
Stem Cell Therapy for Pets
At Paw Chi Holistic Veterinary Care we utilize a potent (pluripotent) stem cell that is derived from the patient’s own blood (rather than a multipotent stem cell from fat or bone marrow).
This unique small stem cell can differentiate or develop into all types of tissue. This technique only involves a simple blood draw. There is no anesthesia or surgery. The blood sample is submitted overnight to a special lab and processed. In 3-5 days the sample is ready.
The PrimoStem CPS system also utilizes Platelet Rich Plasma which helps to decrease inflammation and activate the cells to start the regeneration process. The sample can be injected intravenously, intra-articular (in the joint), or in acupuncture points near the affected area.

Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is another method of regenerative medicine that has been utilized more commonly in human sports orthopedic treatments. PRP contains growth factors and bioactive proteins that accelerate healing and can reduce inflammation. This treatment involves a blood draw and then injections in the affected area. The treatment offers an affordable natural alternative to drugs and steroids.
MediVet’s PRP can be used for both acute and chronic conditions such as:
- Complimentary to your pet’s next surgery
- Osteoarthritis
- Tenosynovitis
- Wound Care
- General Inflammation
- Post Surgical Healing
